Out At The Ranch with "Mr. Fix-It"

OK...Please reassure me that some of you face these same dilemmas in an already stressful life!

Why is it that husbands...or at least mine...just can't seem to repair anything around the house.

We have a bathtub faucet that leaks....we've already bought the wrong piece to repair it once...it broke again and fell off...leaving us to turn on the faucet with a screwdriver. It's very handy and JR would be content just to leave it the way it is. The screwdriver makes a lovely addition to the towel rack beside the tub. However, I mentioned that we might want to go back to Lowe's and get the correct part and fix it because although the screwdriver works....it still leaks badly.

He came home yesterday with yet another part...I could tell with one look that it was not going to work. I walked outside last night to turn off the light in our storeroom and noticed a piece of plastic on the ground that looked like it came off the new part.

I asked him what it was and he informed me the piece wouldn't fit ...he had to cut it off. He didn't cut it ....he broke it ...so now the faucet has a new handle...that is broken....that still leaks!

He also just came in to tell me his truck alternator is going out...its a new one that my ex-hubby just repaired for us...doesn't that figure...

JR says he just hooked up his small volt meter to the battery to check it out and it started smoking...car repair is not a good subject either....

HELP ME...
